DEPARTMENT OF JOURNALISM AND MASS COMMUNICATION
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Students need to be well-educated as well as well-established in the field of future life. In order to create that opportunity, The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (General Course) of Dr.Kanailal Bhattacharyya College has been started in the last 2019-2020 academic year with the permission of the Department of Higher Education of the Government of West Bengal and the recognition of the University of Calcutta with the dedicated efforts of the present Principal of the College Dr. Kaustubh Lahiri.
Students will be able gain knowledge of various fields of Mass Communication, like, Journalism, Advertising, Public Relation, Digital media etc. Students of this department have the opportunity to get jobs in any field of Mass media.
Apart from these, efforts are also being made to introduce honours courses in this department at the initiative of the esteemed principal sir in order to create opportunities for higher education by obtaining a master’s degree in the academic field.
In the first academic year, the journey of this Department of Journalism and Mass Communication has started with 7 students. The teaching-learning process is being conducted under the supervision of renowned Professor Dr. Abir Chattopadhyay, Member, Post-Graduate Faculty Council for Journalism, Education ,Library Science, University of Calcutta, and with the help of Guest Lecturer Samprikta Bagchi from 2020. Samata Chakraborty joined as guest lecturer in the department in January, 2023. Rahul Singh joined as Lab Attendant in the department in January, 2022.
