The department of Geography was established in 2003 with General degree course. Geography Honours was introduced in 2006. The department has two full time teachers and two Government approved part time teachers. Principal sir is also one of the faculties of the department. Smart class room, GIS enabled Laboratory have enriched the department. Keeping in mind in demand from the ;local areas, have been increased the intake capacity to 37 in B.A. Honours in Geography. Post Graduate course is introduced under NSOU from the month of April, 2023. Wall magazine UJJAN has published in every year by the departmental students. Excursion or educational tour has been conducted regularly according to CU syllabus. Laboratory Attendant,Smt. Aparna Dutta has joined in February 2009. Lab Attendant Abdur Rahaman has joined in September 2020.He is SET Qualified and specialized in Remote Sensing and GIS.The faculties of the department give equal importance to teaching and research to enrich the students and impart knowledge to develop critical thinking in various aspects of geography. Field work and problem sessions are held to develop and innovative and analytical approach to learning the departmental infrastructure was ameliorated under RUSA and College fund to support the syllabus. Software ERDAS and TANTMIPS have been installed in 25 Desktops. The department is also equipped with all advance geographical equipment’s, maps and topographical sheets absolutely useful for the students.
